How We Work

Virtual, or electronic, remote inspections have become a necessary and viable alternative to maintain safety and regulatory compliance.

The benefits of an electronic inspection are many – reducing costs by eliminating travel, keeping facilities secure, and providing greater flexibility for scheduling. Working with eFI, we maintain video recordings of all inspections for future review and regulatory compliance.

Below are the main steps of how we work.

1

Who will lead the inspection?

An eFI certified technician will begin each inspection by scheduling a session with an onsite member of your team that is trained and qualified to provide the support necessary to make the inspection a success.  Each inspection session begins with a short credential and identification verification  of the participants.

2

What is needed for a virtual inspection?

While there may be exceptions, most inspections require only the following:

  • Reliable wifi or cellular reception (no dead/dark areas)
  • Any updated mobile device with video capability.
  • eFI’s site map reflecting the RFID-tagged assets to be inspected

3

Is there an initial setup?

Yes.  Most facilities will require the installation of RFID tag stickers on key pieces of equipment to ensure they are properly recorded during the inspection.  RFID tags will be installed and recorded by eFI technicians during an initial onsite consultation.

4

What can I expect on the day of my inspection?

You will be emailed a confirmation of the inspection a minimum of 24 hours prior to the scheduled date and time

At the scheduled date and time, you will accept the eFI invitation to join the remote session from your mobile device.

The eFI technician will perform a number of pre-inspection checks before directing your team through the inspection process.

5

What happens after the inspection?

After the inspection, the eFI technician will prepare all regulatory reports, including the recorded inspection record and file them with the respective agencies.  A copy of the report will be emailed to you for your records.

6

What happens if the inspection cannot be completed remotely?

If any problems are encountered during the inspection which prevents the use of remote technology, or a condition is discovered which requires intervention by the technician, the remote inspection will be halted and a technician dispatched to the facility.
